Promotion of Sports

The Adani Foundation has long championed grassroots sports development in rural India, recognising its power to build discipline, foster teamwork and drive community development. Through focussed interventions, such as the "Garv Hai" programme, we’ve nurtured promising young athletes by providing financial assistance, professional coaching, and access to quality training infrastructure across multiple disciplines.

Our efforts go beyond elite athlete development. From providing coaching to organising inter-Gram Panchayat tournaments in popular rural sports, such as volleyball, kabaddi and cricket, and strengthening local teams with latest sports kits, the Adani Foundation aims to create a strong, inclusive sports culture at the village level. These sustained initiatives are pathways to self-belief, recognition and opportunity for rural youth, enabling them to pursue their passion and unlock their full potential.

Fulfilling Aspirations with Adani Coaching & Fitness Centre

At the Adani Coaching & Fitness Centre in Gangavaram, Andhra Pradesh, sports have become a powerful platform for transformation. Established in 2024, the centre offers structured coaching in Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shuttle Badminton, along with fitness training for youth aspiring to join the Armed Forces and Police, opening doors for underprivileged communities.

Among the many inspiring journeys are those of Yeripalli Komali (16), Badi Divya (16), and Perla Divya (20), three young athletes preparing to represent Gangavaram/Andhra Pradesh at a national-level Kabaddi championship. Komali, a first-generation learner from a fisherfolk family, balances school with daily practice and has already competed in multiple national tournaments. Divya’s journey from zonal competitions to the national stage reflects grit and determination amid economic hardships. Perla, a two-time All-India Kabaddi participant, works as a Physical Education teacher and earns a steady income.

The centre provides holistic support through rigorous selection process, professional coaching, mentorship, sports kits, and structured fitness programmes for career aspirants. Around 72 athletes, including 30 girls, have been trained here; four players have already represented Gangavaram at national tournaments, with participants reporting improved confidence and fitness.

Central to this transformation is Nolli Theja (23), a national-level Kabaddi player with 14 championships, who overcame significant hardships to become a role model for the next generation. Together, these stories reaffirm the Adani Foundation’s commitment to nurturing talent, breaking barriers, and creating opportunities for youth in rural India.
