Creating Enduring Impact in Akali Village
Perseverance on Wheels: Balailal Maity’s Journey - Balailal Maity from Rabindranagar village, despite living with a physical disability, remained determined to achieve self-reliance. Limited mobility once restricted his ability to earn a livelihood and made him dependent on others. Through Adani Foundation’s initiative to support persons with disabilities, Balailal received a battery-operated wheelchair vehicle with a 25 km range, enabling him to travel independently across nearby villages. This support proved transformative—he established a small medicine store and now earns a steady income for his family. Balailal’s journey is a testament to resilience and highlights how timely support can empower individuals to overcome barriers and lead dignified, independent lives.
