The APSEZ Ports are equipped with adequate infrastructure to handle coal at all its locations except Ennore and Vizingam as these are dedicated container terminals.
APSEZ Ports handle all types and grades of coal including steam coal, imported coking coal & thermal coal, sourced from domestic sources. It has installed high speed ship unloaders / mobile harbour cranes for faster discharge of coal cargo and mechanized storage yards & integrated conveyor system to handle huge volumes of coal cargo.

The Mormugao Terminal has two rail mounted MHC (LPS 600) with 46 CBM grabs of 1750 TPH unloading capacity each. Stacker cum Reclaimers with a stacking capacity of 5000 TPH and reclaiming capacity of 2500 TPH.
It also has 54,000 Sq.mt storage area with stock monitoring through 3D stock piling software.
In-motion wagon loading system and truck loading system are in place for efficient cargo evacuation.
The Vizag Terminal is fully mechanised and state-of-art terminal to handle 6.41MMT of Steam Coal per annum. The berth (EQ-1) in the inner harbour of Visakhapatnam Port is capable of handling Fully Loaded Panamax Vessel. The Terminal has 25 acres of storage space and the automated wagon loading systems allows quick turnaround of rakes, making the entire cargo flow mechanised and efficient.
Import of coal is done through Bulk Berth- 1 which offers a draught of 18m capable of handling Capesize vessels through two mechanized ship unloaders capable of unloading at the rate of 2800 TPH each.
The unloaded coal is carried to the stackyard via conveyor belts through a composite Stacker-Reclaimer system
To facilitate mechanised coal handling, Dahej port has 4 shore cranes, a conveyor network of 9.8 km, 17.4 Hectares of open stock yard, three stacker cum-reclaimers and two rapid wagon loading silos.
